Herd Mentality

So every once in a while I hear a term or a word that strikes me and it repeats itself over & over during a certain timeframe. This past few days it's been Herd Mentality. I seem to see or hear or read it all over. I'm reading (slowly) Mere Christianity (first time - I know, I can't believe I haven't read it before either!) and I saw some nature show and I heard some news program talking about the economy - they all mentioned Herd Mentality. I just think it's weird.... Does this ever happen to you? Is it God telling me something? I have a feeling that I haven't been listening very well lately but I have been talking to Him a lot lately - thanking Him for the beautiful gift of Rain!

Have a blessed day!

Wacky Wednesday - Food

So my DH has been feelin' a bit under the weather the last couple of days and he has a couple different "comfort" foods. One is okay - if not the most healthy at least he doesn't eat it all the time: McD's McNugget's. I don't mind running out and getting them for him every once in a while. And the other you ask? Peanut butter and Bologna sandwichs! Yes, you read that correctly - no misspelling (I hope I spelled it correctly - lol) & no misprints! Isn't that gross? I just can't imagine mixing those two things together. He keeps trying to get me to try it but there is NO way I will. I like mayo with my bologna and jelly (or honey) with my peanut butter!!! No mixing them up for me!!

So what weird food do you (or your loved ones) just gotta have?

Me? - give me just regular food thank you very much!!

Learning how to coupon & the big walk

My DH has been trying to get me to teach others how to do this couponing thing that I've been doing for the last few months. I do see some other bloggers have seminars on it online or have ebooks on it - has anyone tried to do a live seminar about couponing? Not just online stuff? I've tried to show a couple people just in passing what to do, but I think that hand outs and seeing it all written out would prolly help them understand it better.

EDIT: Just found this site that gives a really good "lesson" on CVS'ing. Go check it out: http://www.couponing101.com/2008/10/cvs-101.html

Also my DD is still pregnant - her due date is on Thursday but she has been having slight contractions and is slightly dialated for the past 2 weeks. When I was pregnant with her I was overdue by a month so I think that she thinks about that and freaks out. She's so tired and I can tell she's just ready - so tonight we're going for a "walk" - I just talked to a friend who said that she and her DD went for a 7 mile walk to get the baby to come. I don't think tonight's walk will be that long but hopefully we'll get some action going!!

And maybe I'll take some pictures too. The trees are starting to change. That's about the only thing I like about Fall (cas you know winters coming - boohoo). I'll try to put up some pictures tomorrow of the walkway or the park - wherever it is that we go!

Later: So we didn't go to the walkway and we didn't go to the park, we just walked a few blocks in the neighborhood. It was still nice and the trees are just starting to change and on top of it - it's just about the full moon.

So cool to see some trees have the red leaves while other trees are still green. There are some trees in town that have one side red and the other side green. I really want to find a good spot to take that picture!!

You can just see the full moon - it was such a nice evening. I love this kind of weather. I wish that Indiana could be this way all the time!

This picture of the moon below isn't the greatest (about an hour / hour & half later after our walk) - I was trying to get a picture of the ring around it. I don't remember the old wive's tale about it.... Do you?

Family gathering

My MIL has a family get together usually once a month - realize my DH has 12 brothers and sisters and about 35-40 nieces and nephews! It's usually a BIG group! (I still don't know all the kids names and I've been with DH for over ten yrs!!) Well on Saturday she had another party and I got a couple pictures that I thought that I'd share - I missed a couple of really good shots. I absolutely NEED a new camera! This one is probably about 4 or 5 yrs old and has no manual settings and is terrible in low light. But I thought I'd share anyways even if the pictures aren't the greatest!

Some of the group having fun after we all had ate some good food! They have always got tons and tons of food for every one - oh and the deserts??? SOOOOO good!!!

Katie and her sweetie - I always sneak takin' her picture and this one really shows how much it takes to get a picture of her!!

Okay I didn't take this picture of her below but I just love it so I took it and now I have a cute picture of her and Brett!!!

Carol's new little buddy - Ted found him in the back of his truck at only 2 weeks old, no mama around. He's about 7 weeks old now and as you can see just loves his bottle!! LOL

And here's the two youngest of the group - grandson and great grand daughter! Aren't they the cutest!?!

Have a blessed day,

Blog "Friends" & Great Deals

I have been bouncing around the blogs trying to find a "perfect" site that helps me get good deals at my "new" favorite store; CVS. And I think that I have found it: http://southernsavers.com/ She does a great job of setting up exactly what you need to buy in the correct order to maximize your ECB (extra care bucks) and so that you don't spend too much oop (out of pocket) - I did a bunch of trips yesterday (it was the last day of the 3/15 coupon! - boo hoo) and I bought soooo much stuff for just over 5 dollars!!

  • 3 boxes Always Infinity pads - been wanting to try them
  • 2 Johnson Baby lotions - DD has been wanting these!!
  • 2 cvs zip lock box of baggies - I needed them badly!
  • 5 Lady Speed Sticks
  • 2 Colgate toothpastes - the limit is more than 2 now!
  • 1 Mens razor
  • 1 Womens cartridge for razor - love these Bic Soliel
  • 1 large Vitamin water
  • 2 Gillette mens shampoo
  • 2 small bags of nuts - DH loves!
  • 2 candy bars - Who doesn't love chocolate?!?!
  • 2 Gold Peak Ice Teas
  • 2 Tylenol PM
  • 2 Tylenol Rapid Gels
  • 2 Blood monitors - will donate, my friend just got a new one that I didn't know he got
Yes, I did this and you can do it too!! How awesome is this?!?!??!!! How do I do it? Just check out her site and also iheartcvs.com - there you will learn how to do this too!!!

I always thought that buying name brands was too expensive - I always bought the generic brands because I had gotten out of the habit of using coupons but then I found these sites and you will learn how to really go for it!!

Also I have been noticing that some of the folks that I read their blogs have been having some troubles and well I just want to remind people that even tho we all may not know each other personally - we all are in this world together and we all should be praying for each other and doing whatever it is that we can to help support (I don't mean financially necessarily - unless that's your "gift") each other in this thing we call life!! :-)

We need to help each other with words of encouragement and prayers for our families. Lots of people are going thru rough times - heck everyone has got a story to tell - just don't forget that in the midst of your own difficulties we all could use some type of emotional support.

Okay that's my public service annoucement for the day!
